Why is it only Israel that daily makes the news re 'genocide'?

Jews and many living in or are associated with Israel are the race that suffered the greatest genocide in modern times.For those that might have forgotten, some 6,000,000 were murdered on an industrial scale in Nazi Germany in WWII.This naturally has made them at least wary of how they are considered and treated in the West and the Middle East.Palestinians in their conflict with Israel are not experiencing such a fate.It is claimed that Israel has killed 52,000 Palestinians in Gaza.These are figures put out by the 'Gazan Health Ministry' (unelected).This is known to be run by Hamas  which itself murdered and sexually assaulted numerous women, children and the elderly in October 2023 and still hold many hostages as well as the corpses of those it murdered.It does not distinguish between civilian deaths and those of its fighting forces that imbed themselves amongst the general Populus.And of course Hamas is attempting to enact its Charter Declaration which calls for the annihilation of the state of Israel and its Jewish citizens.But we should not forget there have been and still are many conflicts raging around the world that have resulted in many deaths and claims of genocide.They received and get little attention by the anti-Israel bien pensants and fellow travellers.All the focus is on Israel.For example note the deaths resulting from the following -2023 Masalit, West Darfur Sudan - 15,000 deaths2020 Tigray Ethiopia 162,000 deaths2016 Rohingya, Myanmar - 9,000 deaths2016 China - Uyghur birth rate drops 24% because of genocidal persecution2014 Ukraine - 12,000 deaths by Russians2014 Iraq Turkman 3,500 deaths (by ISIS)2014 Iraq/Syria (Yazidis) - 2,100 deaths (by ISIS)2003 Darfur, Sudan - 98,000 deaths2002 North Kivu, DR Congo - 60,000 deaths1996 Kivu, Zaire - 200,000 deaths (Hutus)1994 Rwanda - 491,000 deaths (Tutsis)1992 Bosnia - 31,000 deaths (by Serbs)All inter-tribal as is the conflict initiated by Hamas against Israel.Cut Israel some slack.

The Party's Over

People vote Labour for several reasons. One is tribalism, as in 'My family have always been Labour'. It is difficult for such individuals to to change their allegiance as voting for another party would seem like a betrayal of their family or community. Another is self-interest. Workers in the public sector, for example, are more likely to vote Labour since this is the party committed to state rather than private enterprise. So why would they vote for any other party? But there is also a class of people, to which I suspect several of the contributors to Putney Forum belong, who vote Labour because of what they would call a social conscience. They believe that Labour is the party most likely to help the disadvantaged.  Their party allegiance is  part of who they are. Voting Conservative would be tantamount to going over to the dark side. Some individuals, of course, are motivated by all three considerations at once.What these groups have in common is that they are on the whole impervious to rational argument. When presented with evidence contrary to their beliefs they employ various strategies. One is silence. So far example, there has been comparatively little discussion on the thread  about the Budget, which has dominated the News over the past two days.  Another tactic is to blame the Conservatives for everything that has gone wrong since Labour came to power, whether it's Brexit, or Boris Johnson or  Liz Truss (though, oddly, Rishi Sunak is never mentioned, perhaps because he actually got inflation down to 2% as opposed to its current level of 4%). A third strategy is to pretend that things are going in the right direction e.g. net migration is falling (mainly due to the last government's visa restrictions), even though 36 000 unauthorised migrants have crossed the Channel this year..The elephant in the room is the enormous level of debt which costs the government over £100 billion each year to service. This burden is simply unsustainable and will eventually bankrupt the country. Unfortunately Labour's decision, under pressure from its backbenchers, to adopt a tax and spend policy will only make the problem worse. Spending money you haven't got obviously increases indebtedness while increased taxation slows growth and reduces revenues. Tax and spend, which I suspect several contributors to the Forum support, was just about possible under Gordon Brown in 2000 when the ratio of public sector debt to GDP was 29%. But now under Rachel Reeves it stands at over 95%. The party's over but unfortunately the revellers won't go home.

The IDF and Israeli Police announced that the incident is under investigation.

The Jerusalem Post, November 27, 2025:- "Israeli forces kill two wanted Palestinian terrorists after apparent surrender in West BankThe IDF and the Israeli police said that they will investigate an incident in which Israeli forces shot at two wanted Palestinian terrorists after they appeared to surrender during operations in Jenin on Thursday.Israeli Border Police stated that they identified the building in which the terrorists were hiding and initiated an hours-long attempt to convince the two men to exit the building. When the terrorists refused to exit, Israeli forces used a backhoe to partially open the building's garage door.Video footage released by a Ramallah-based Quds Network shows two Palestinian men emerging from the dark, half-opened garage entrance in front of a number of Israeli Border Police officers.The Palestinian men raised their hands and lifted their shirts to reveal that they were unarmed while kneeling on the ground before attempting to re-enter the building.The video then shows the two men being shot by officers.The soldiers involved in the incident explained that when IDF soldiers attempted to check the men to see if they presented a security threat, they acted contrary to instructions, according to Army Radio.“One of the terrorists decided to enter the building contrary to the instructions, and the other terrorist entered after him, and therefore both were shot,” the soldier was quoted as saying.However, the video appears to clearly show that the terrorists were not running or walking away, but slowly crawling. Trump Derangement Syndrome

A Panorama programme broadcast last year ‘doctored’ a speech by Trump, making it appear that he had encouraged a riot at he Capitol after his loss to Biden, according to a whistleblowing BBC memo. The programme misled viewers by showing Trump telling his supporters that he was going to the Capitol to ‘fight like hell’ when in fact he said he would walk with them to ‘peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard’. When this issue was raised with BBC Management, they apparently refused to accept that there had been a breach of professional standards.The false report was not just a deviation from the normal standards of journalism but a contravention of the BBC Charter which imposes a duty of impartiality on its journalists.  What is so surprising that the programme makers felt the need to fabricate evidence against when, for anyone opposed to Trump, there is a lot of true material available.The interesting question is why the Panorama team chose to jeopardise the BBC’s reputation in this way and why the Management refused to remedy the situation. I would attribute the collective failure of the BBC in this case to TDS. The BBC is largely staffed by a left leaning university educated elite. Like most of the progressive left nowadays they don’t believe in socialism but they haven’t replaced it with anything else.  They don’t know what they are in favour of so they define their virtue in terms of who they hate - Boris Johnson, Nigel Farage and above all Donald Trump. So in their eyes any attack on Trump, whether factually based or  not, is justified. And even if he didn’t utter the words attributed to him in the programme, or if he used them in another context, it doesn’t matter,  because in the view of the progressives of the BBC it’s the kind of thing Trump would have said.

Britain should look at and take steps to follow Israel

People's Israelophobia might range from 'anti-'the state of Israel' though anti-Zionism (whatever that might mean) to anti-Judaism and even to antisemitism.However they cannot deny that Israel is a unique sovereign state of which its citizens are united and proud to be a part, albeit, taking advantage of its freedoms, they might disagree on many political issues.Unfortunately we cannot say the same of the UK where Pakistanis in Birmingham and Bangladeshis in Tower Hamlets take delight in demonstrating there desire, even achievement, of separatism from British norms and culture. In a counter to an anti-immigration march by Reform supporters in Whitehall (its original route in East London having been banned by Police) in Tower Hamlets, lefties and masked young Muslims gathered to gloat over UKIP’s banishment from their borough.And there were also columns of young men in black barking religious slogans from behind their masks. These are ‘our streets’, they roared, and then ‘Allahu Akbar’.  It was the anti-Zionist chanting that was most unnerving. The black-clad mob denounced ‘Zionist scum’ (Jews) and promised to drive them ‘off our streets’. Brandlehow School

I wonder if the school has tried crowdfunding?For instance there is this group who are crowdfunding right now to raise enough money to keep on showing the film they have made of turning their street into a Power Station.  Their street is in Walthamstow and the film is now being shown not just all over London but in this country and abroad.  There have been several articles in the national press.Their current crowdfunder donations are being matched by Aviva and this particular crowdfunder runs out tonight or tomorrow - can't remember which.There are quite a few companies that do this.  With energy costs the way they are crowdfunding for solar panels etc should or could help them to bring their costs down.  Brandlehow is a Grade II listed property but there are churches which have installed solar panels to reduce their energy costs (including Salisbury Cathedral) so it can be possible on buildings where you just might not expect to find them...However there are also communities raising money for other projects.  Of course you'd need to check and know that you meet the guidelines.But maybe they don't need to do that and they have some past pupils or their parents who would love to help out?There is masses of infrastructure in this country that has not had as much TLC as it could have done with and should have had - including Hammersmith Bridge of course - and with climate change with the sudden heavier cloudbursts and high winds it brings there will be an even greater number of buildings that will need to pay more attention to their roofs - and gutters etc (ie making sure the gutters are big enough to take the extra water).  This is why you also see rain gardens and other methods nowadays of slowing rainwater down on its way to the drains.

Oxford suspends student who chanted 'put the Zios in the ground' at pro-Palestine protest. BBC News reports -'Yesterday police arrested 40 people after clashes with officers at a pro-Palestine protest near Downing Street.Six arrests were “for assaults on police officers” and the majority were for "breaching conditions”, the Metropolitan Police announced in a statement on Thursday night.The demonstration of up to 300 people was organised by Global Movement for Gaza UK to demand protection for Greta Thunberg’s Gaza-bound flotilla and to protest the proscription of Palestine Action'.This protest march came two days after two Jewish people were killed and three left in a serious condition after a car ramming and stabbing attack outside a synagogue in Manchester on Thursday.The suspect, who was shot dead at the scene, has been named as 35-year-old Jihad Al-Shamie, a British citizen of Syrian descent (sic) who had also been accused of rape.The far-Left pro-Palestinian march, ironically fell on the 89th anniversary of the 4th October 1936 Cable Street March but its political intention was the reverse of the earlier one.Then the radical left rallied to the defence of London’s Jews from the menace of fascism, then of the European rather than Islamist variety.They stood with Jewish EastEnders against the threat of Oswald Mosley and his blackshirts. Fast forward 89 years and now the left responds to violent Jew hatred not by siding with Jewish people but by raging against the Jewish nation. The petition at the moment has 2,752,719 signatures.I received this email this morning:Government responded:We will introduce a digital ID within this Parliament to help tackle illegal migration, make accessing government services easier, and enable wider efficiencies. We will consult on details soon.The Government has announced plans to introduce a digital ID system which is fit for the needs of modern Britain. We are committed to making people’s everyday lives easier and more secure, to putting more control in their hands (including over their own data), and to driving growth through harnessing digital technology. We also want to learn from countries which have digitised government services for the benefit of their citizens, in line with our manifesto commitment to modernise government.Currently, when UK citizens and residents use public services, start a new job, or, for example, buy alcohol, they often need to present an assortment of physical documents to prove who they are or things about themselves. This is both bureaucratic for the individual and creates space for abuse and fraud. This includes known issues with illegal working and modern slavery, while the fragmented approach and multiple systems across Government make it difficult for people to access vital services. Further, there are too many people who are excluded, like the 1 in 10 UK adults who don’t have a physical photo ID, so can struggle to prove who they are and access the products and services they are entitled to.To tackle these interlinked issues, we will introduce a new national digital ID. This is not a card but a new digital identity that will be available for free to all UK citizens and legal residents aged 16 and over (although we will consider through consultation if this should be age 13 and over). Over time, people will be able to use it to seamlessly access a range of public and private sector services, with the aim of making our everyday lives easier and more secure. Back from Ukraine in one piece

Didn't see a single drone but more and more vehicle owners are investing in drone jammers - a big square box on the roof with lots of electrics in it.And we think we've got problems!A huge thank you, by the way, to those who have supported Medical Life Lines Ukraine, including the very generous "Anonymous".  Thanks to some of you I have raised over £12,000 since June.Here is an extract of my email to as many donors as I have email addresses for:Our journey was long and tiring – about 1,250 miles – but that was as nothing to the emotions we felt when handing our four ambulances over to the hospitals and search & rescue teams who will be using them.  Each recipient sent a small deputation to show appreciation and to give them a day of R&R.  There was a formal dinner (including salo but not much vodka) and of course many speeches.One team had come straight from the front line, picked up their 4WD search & rescue vehicle (which came with hydraulic cutting tools used to extract people from damaged buildings) and drove it straight back after one of the first responders had told us of what they had to deal with virtually every day.  As they see it their front lines are not only Ukraine’s but those of Europe too. The ambulance I drove will be used by a rehabilitation centre for wounded veterans and at the dinner we heard harrowing testimony from the man who now runs the centre, an ex-POW who spent two years in Russian captivity.  How he was treated was appalling and degrading.  Almost literally inhuman.One of the other vehicles will go to a hospital that specialises in treating limb loss injuries.  This hospital alone has treated over 18,000 victims to date.We started out with five ambulances but one, a mobile treatment centre, sadly broke down en route in Belgium.  Once it is fixed it will be delivered separately.  For those still keen to support MLLU, the repairs for this vehicle will cost around £2,000 and that needs funding.  Once again, here is the funding link: https://www.justgiving.com/page/jonathan-callaway-1Each of the drivers raised well over their £7,000 target and our Ukrainian friends were especially touched that on average each of us had found over 100 donors.  Just knowing that we had such a lot of support behind us was a lift to their morale.  It really was an emotional evening.Before the handovers we had a few hours downtime and managed a trip into the beautiful and historic centre of Lviv.  A visit to the “Church of Tears”, where hundreds of fallen soldiers and civilians were commemorated, was a vivid reminder of the seemingly never-ending toll this war is taking on the country and its people. There is a Church of Tears in every town and village.  Seeing the pictures of some of the children who had lost their fathers – and the messages they left for them – was especially heart-breaking.It seemed unreal to us but life in Lviv goes on pretty much as normal (even the air raid sirens are often ignored).  Kids playing in the fountains, people walking around with ice-creams, bars and cafés full of people, everyone making the best of things.  However, a couple of things stood out – there were very few young men around, some buildings had been boarded up as a protective measure and – unlike two years ago – a lot of vehicles now have rooftop drone jammers.This was a physically tiring but emotionally powerful experience for all of us drivers.I will end by mentioning that the charity is still looking for a couple of drivers for the next convoy in November ... please consider this especially if you still have a C1 licence.Thanks again to all of you
