Mr Ainsworth'So are you against terrorism from any country and against any country possessing nuclear weapons then?'Yes I am against terrorism today from any country as by definition and practice it is carried out by states and rogue organisations that have failed to win over others to their cause by legitimate argument and negotiation in the court of world opinion. In principle I am, as I am sure you are too, against any country possessing nuclear weapons. But just as one cannot turn back the clock on history one cannot ignore reality that states have them. The key issue for the West is not one of "well if we have them why can't they" when the 'they' includes our real enemies such as Russia, North Korea and now potentially Iran who all in their heart of hearts wish us ill.The West needs nuclear weapons to deter these countries from acquiring them or at least realising the price they would pay if they do have them, were they to use them. I don't count China in this group as why would they want to mess up all the trade they do with us via Amazon !And I am pretty relaxed about Pakistan as I doubt they would risk destroying London, Birmingham, Bradford etc that have large diasporas of people with Pakistani heritage. And of course like us they love cricket !The issue over such weapons is realpolitik not sixth form common room arguments about fairness and equity put about by you.The West needs them as deterrence whilst many countries such as Iran want them to support plans for the expansion of Islam and its influence.

Gabbard Says Iran Did Not Rebuild Nuclear Program After 2025 Strikes, Contradicting Trumpby Richard Hall and Rebecca SchneidTime Mar 18, 2026Iran did not rebuild its uranium enrichment capability following joint U.S.-Israeli strikes against its nuclear program last year, U.S. Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard told a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on Wednesday."As a result of Operation Midnight Hammer, Iran’s nuclear enrichment program was obliterated. There has been no efforts since then to try to rebuild their enrichment capability. The entrances to the underground facilities that were bombed have been buried and shuttered with cement," Gabard wrote in an opening statement ahead of the hearing. Gabbard's testimony, which is a representation of the intelligence community’s assessment of the threats facing U.S. citizens, appeared to directly contradict one of President Donald Trump's central justifications for launching a new war against Iran on Feb 28—namely that Iran was two weeks away from acquiring a nuclear weapon.“If we didn’t hit within two weeks, they would’ve had a nuclear weapon,” Trump told a meeting with congressional leaders on March 4, 2026. “When crazy people have nuclear weapons, bad things happen,” he said. The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, said on March 3 that the nuclear watchdog had "no evidence of Iran building a nuclear bomb.”Gabbard DID NOT INCLUDE the part of her statement about Iran not having rebuilt its enrichment capability when she read it during the hearing's opening."https://time.com/article/2026/03/18/tulsi-gabbard-iran-nuclear-trump/Trump apparently must have other sources than his Director of National Intelligence.

Mr Brigo'Just so i'm clear, this is the ally that barged on in there without consulting with his allies, smashed a load of stuff up, replaced one Khamenei with another Khamenei at a cost of over 25bn dollars to the US taxpayer and then said"we dont need your help""we do need your help""its not our problem you deal with it"That ally?'Yes, that one who whatever his unpredictability and irrationality has as his aim the containment and perhaps even the destruction of the current government of Iran, an Islamic rogue state that intends the world outside of its fiefdom, nothing but harm. And that includes us sitting comfortably amongst you and the Carters, Hollidays, Bonds and particularly Ainsworths in leafy West Putney. And you may have already forgotten that it has directly or through proxy agents attacked ambulances (I think when Israel is accused of something similar by Palestinian fellow travellers they are designated 'medical facilities') as well as attacking and murdering Jewish and other British citizens on our streets (again using progressive left-speak 'innocent civilians'). So, you choose whose side you support and I'll choose mine.As an aside the group that attacked the ambulances were identified by the BBC as an Iran-aligned group, Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiya which it translated as 'The Islamic Movement of the People of the Right Hand'. Wankers in other words but in these circumstances only to satisfy a blood lust.Don't join them.I'm told it is bad for your eyesight and you will be less able to post your balanced, liberal views.

Extremely unpleasant, repulsive and arrogant CarterWhy do you consider me 'odious' ?Is it because you disagree with what I believe and post or for some other reason ?Your post proves two points.1) you are unable to argue a position without resorting to personal insult. An attitude derived in the school playground no doubt and which you have never cast off.2) Trump may not be the sharpest knife in the box, perhaps even only just ahead of you. However I see him fighting for me and Western civilised values, albeit in his cack handed way. Whether his approach is foolish remains to be seen but at least he is making a stand against medieval Islam which, with fellow travellers such as yourself, threatens to annihilate Israel and take over the West. You wish to see him humiliated and fail in this aim.You seem to place Trump on the same step on the ladder of evil as you do the Ayatollahs.A genuine case of TDS !Direct questions:1) Do you see Iran as being a threat to this country even greater perhaps in extent than exemplified by the terrorist attacks and assassinations it has already carried out on our streets against British Jews and other citizens ? 2) IF you do, how should we defend ourselves against this theocratic Islamic dictatorship which even goes as far as murdering its own citizens for disagreeing with its policies ?3 Do you see Trump in terms of evil intent in the same light you view the mad mullahs of Tehran ?4) Whose side are you on in the current war of civilisations ?The West or the East ?
