Compare the Pope's prayer to Pete Hegseth's:“Let every round find its mark against the enemies of righteousness and our great nation,” “Give them wisdom in every decision, endurance for the trial ahead, unbreakable unity, and overwhelming violence of action against those who deserve no mercy.”What's the opposite to Amen to that. (In Dublin, we would say; 'what a loud of bollix'. Not sure how that would be translated to polite London English)

There is no doubt that Israel has the right to defend itself, but I'm looking forward to your squaring this statement with the recent bombing raids that have killed over 250 people and injured 800.

It sounded like Hezbollah did actually stop firing rockets, and then Israel pounded them in, what sounds like, an opportunistic sneak attack. Pounding your neighbours to rubble only decreases Israel’s security and ensures generations of new fighters are born committed to carry on the fight; there are no winners, only losers. The idea of endless war would not be a vision I would support, I hope there are plenty of Israeli’s who think likewise.
On Easter Sunday, the Pope called for global peace.“On this day of celebration, let us abandon every desire for conflict, domination, and power, and implore the Lord to grant his peace to a world ravaged by wars," Amen to that!
Interesting that the Pentagon met with a Vatican representative. Are Don and Pete concerned that Leo might have more followers than they have MAGA supporters?https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/pope-leo-visit-us-trump-president-b2954080.htmlI've seen more scandalous reports referring to threats of the Avignon popes ...https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/pentagon-threatened-pope-criticized-trump-212552754.htmlPerhaps there could be the District of Columbia Pope with J D Vance as the rival Pope?

Robert. Yes, I've now heard radio reports that Hezbollah are still launching missiles at Israel. There seems to be confusion about inclusion of Lebanon in ceasefire deal. US says not, but Pakistan which brokered deal thought it was, as does Iran. As debated on BBC ITV News, why would Pakistan mislead, suggestion in the rush it wasn't made clear because of focus on Strait of Hormuz?
“Iran International - English 18h ·#BREAKING Lebanon is not part of the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, Axios reported on Wednesday, citing White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.https://iranintl.com/en/202604082486”Unless someone on here as actually seen the ceasefire document? Now go out and enjoy the sunshine ….

Robert, Do you understand English? The question was did Hezbollah attack Israel yesterday, 8 April 2026.It seems you are one-track minded and obsessed with only one thing - Israel.Every single country in the world has a right to defend itself, including Israel. Exactly, defend itself. Do you know the difference between defense and attack? Apparently not.

It’s hard to get some handle on facts on this, but as far as I can tell; The ceasefire included Lebanon.Hezbollah stopped firing rockets towards Israel yesterday.Israel hit 100 targets in a ten minute window. Among the many casualties are 100 dead children. Subsequently, Israel claimed they were not part of the ceasefire and have no intention of stopping the attacks.Iran has said if Israel doesn’t stop attacking Lebanon then the ceasefire is over.Trump said the skirmish in Lebanon is a separate thing and Iran need to stick to the real deal.I think I’ve got that right?
Ivonne Hezbollah are a terrorist group based in Lebanon sponsored by Iran who also invaded Israel on October 7th with Hamas. Hezbollah have been constantly firing rockets into a sovereign nation in support of Iran since March 2nd which has been confirmed. In your mind is Hezbollah a terrorist group and does Israel have the right to defend itself?
Good morning Steven,There is no need for sarcasm. It is not what Hezbollah says, it is what Lebanon says. Can you tell the difference?
Good morning Robert,Could you kindly give the link to the quote you have posted, please? Also, the quite mentions March 2. I was asking about attacks on 8 April, yesterday. The question has not been answered. Nobody says that Iran is docile and sweet. However, I did not know that Iran and Lebanon were the same country.
Naturally if Hezbollah says it was included in the ceasefire deal, it must be true.

Not heresay Michael“ Israel launched an offensive against Iran-backed Hezbollah after it opened fire on March 2 to avenge the killing of Iran's supreme leader at the start of the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran. The Reuters Iran Briefing newsletter keeps you informed with the latest developments and analysis of the Iran war. Sign up here.”Remember Iran is still bombing pipelines in Kuwait UAE and its neighbours.

Yes, Ivonne, the only Reuters headline seemed to be about 250 civilians killed in Israeli air strikes. Unfortunately, it's behind a paywall so there might be more details. If Robert has access he needs to provide the details' reference; unfortunately, otherwise it's heresay without references. (If I make statements I try and follow best practice and provide my references. Even Mr Brown tries that although they might be AI generated ...)https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/hezbollah-pauses-attacks-under-us-iran-ceasefire-sources-close-group-say-2026-04-08/

Both Netanyahu and Trump have been avoiding Court by taking part in wars.
Philippa Bond ● 55d
I cannot find anything about Hezbollah firing missiles or rockets at Israel today. All I find is information of airstrikes by Israel on Lebanon.
Ivonne Holliday ● 55d
Yes according to Reuters. Just goggle it Ivonne.
Do we know for certain that Hezbollah are currently firing rockets into Israel?
Sadly, I think Iran considers the UK falls an "enemy".
The ceasefire only covers Iran so as long as Iran’s proxy fighters in Lebanon keep firing rockets into Israel they have a right to defend themselves.
I guess they won’t as long as Israel says it’s not part of a ceasefire and keeps pounding Southern Lebanon relentlessly. It’s not generally how ceasefires work.
Gerry Boyce ● 55d
Will Hezbollah agree to stop firing rockets into Israel?
Let’s hope there’s someone who can rein in Nuttynyahu; obviously Trump won’t/can’t but maybe someone else can.
Iranian military source: "No oil tanker or ship belonging to the enemies will pass through the Strait of Hormuz before 'Israel' commits to a ceasefire in Lebanon"
