Poor Trump and Netanyahu are genuinely afeared

Can anybody really believe that 2 nuclear powers (US and Israel) are really scared by non-nuclear Iran?Predictions that Iran is within a "very short time" (weeks, months, or 1–2 years) of acquiring a nuclear weapon have been made consistently for over three decades, with significant, high-profile warnings dating back to the early 1990s.Of course, what Israel and the US want is dominance, not balance.

I guess you forgot all those times that Trump threatened NK with 'fire and fury' - except now he's gone all meek because he knows that if NK can hit the US if it wants - it might well lead to the total destruction of NK but the fact is they can take a lot of US citizens with them.And like I said, both Libya and Ukraine got rid of their WMD's and look what happened to them.To be clear (again) I don't want Iran to have a nuclear weapon - i'm just trying to explain why they might feel it's their best defence.

Mr Brigo'I just suggested that Iran has seen what has happened to countries that had or gave up nuclear weapons (Libya, Ukraine) and also what has not happened to countries that gained them (North Korea) and decided that maybe it would be best if they had some toys of their own'.Different geo-political circumstances.North Korea does not seem to have any intent on invading or annihilating any other country.Not even South Korea which in turn is not threatening it, nor similarly is the US.It seems to have trouble enough simply feeding its people and stopping them from uprising.And anyway China keeps it under its thumb for the last thing it wants is a nuclear war on its doorstep to disturb its trade with the west.Iran on the other hand would certainly try to annihilate Israel, itself by WMDs or via Islamic proxies, if it could get away with it.Hence firm measures need to be taken to curtail this antisemitic racist and theocratic dictatorship.

Ummm where in my previous post did I condemn Israel and support militant Islamists.I just suggested that Iran has seen what has happened to countries that had or gave up nuclear weapons (Libya, Ukraine) and also what has not happened to countries that gained them (North Korea) and decided that maybe it would be best if they had some toys of their own.

Mr Brigo'Perhaps the mullahs looked at what happened to both Libya (gave up WMD's - then bombed into the stone age by the west) and Ukraine (gave its nukes to Russia and currently relentlessly bombed) and thought "best we get our own"?'In that case, Iran should keep its head down and stop any further progress on acquiring WMDs.Why would they need them other than to attack Israel or to provide what they might think is a covering shield to their proxies Hamas, Hezbollah, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Houthis et al.Still, keep on following Mr Ainsworth and posting anything that condemns Israel and supports militant Islamists.

Mr Ainsworth'Can anybody really believe that 2 nuclear powers (US and Israel) are really scared by non-nuclear Iran?Of course, what Israel and the US want is dominance, not balance'.Wrong again.They are 'scared' of the theocratic Islamic state of 'non-nuclear' Iran acquiring nuclear weapons and the mad mullahs that rule it using them.These people and their religion have no concept of the right of human life and are more concerned with the afterlife where the 'martyrs' can reside with, what is it, fifty virgins each ?So yes Israel in particular and the US want dominance to stop this happening,Don't kid yourself for if those that do not fear immolation use these weapons against Israel, which the irrationality of the regime and its rulers make a strong possibility, the after effects will even spread to leafy West Putney.Why do you side with Muslim lunatics and not our Western ally ?
