Lennox Estate.

Lennox Estate article on front of Forum. What I want to know is all the building they want to build where do the children go to school. Even East Sheen Primary School just past the Lennox on the URR, years ago that was one main building and a smaller one with 2 class rooms for 1st years. Now there are so many buildings on the site, we had a massive playground when I was there.

Hello Barbara,Yes, the buildings around Armoury Way are an abomination!  It is akin to the horrible buildings in the Soviet area....  So incredibly depressing!

Sorry I was talking about the shutting of the Putney school on the common. But as for the Lennox I grew up across the road In Treen Ave, when I was young it was just land by the Priory with animals on, I was about 15 when it was built, also the Willoughbys wasn't there when I was young. But I still think it's not right to keep building these high buildings in a nice area around Barnes.  Has anybody driven or been around Armory Way Wandsworth and seen all the buildings that have been built in the last few years.

East Sheen Primary has loads of children and buildings on site. In Putney you have a Primary School up Putney Hill, Lady Victory, Hotham, also St.Mary's and All Saints, do you think perhaps Putney area had enough schools anyway, perhaps it would have been better turning it back into a Health Centre.

It is the nature of buildings that they go on land. While I sympathise with the residents of the Lennox Estate, with the astronomically high price of land in London the council has little choice other than to build on what it already owns. Greater density is inevitable but this is largely subsidised housing so the interests of the whole community needs to be considered. There is another way to look at the point about schools. They are being closed in SW15 because of falling rolls. If more housing was built in the area then this would not be happening.

There are 2 reasons Barbara.1. Wandsworth has no financial stake in Hammersmith Bridge.2. The Lennox build will be financed via ring fenced Housing funds/ loans financed by the Housing account.

Also if they can build all these blocks of flats, why are they unable to mend Hammersmith Bridge. Because they don't want to, now another Bridge is shut as well. keep going and we will all be kept this side of the bridge.
