A 16-year-old boy has been arrested following a spate of bike thefts in the area.

He has been detained on suspicion of theft and handling stolen goods and 22 bikes the police believe to have been stolen have been recovered. So far one owner has been traced and they are seeking to reunite others.

A video has been released by police showing the bikes that have been recovered.

A number of Putney residents have reported their bikes being stolen since the beginning of the year with the West Putney area appearing to be particularly hard hit.

One man had two bikes stolen from a passageway behind a locked gate on Tideswell Road on 11 January and this theft followed on from similar thefts in the area in the previous few nights with two houses on Howards Lane being hit. In the following week there were reports of thefts in Dover Park.

If you have had your bike stolen recently you can call Wandsworth Police on 101 and quote reference 4996/19JAN.
