A major police operation took place in Putney on Saturday night (19 December) to break up a rave in the former Marks and Spencer building.

Scores of officers with shields and helmet were seen assembling on Monserrat Road at around 10.30pm and entering the building.

A police helicopter was also flying above the High Street during the operation and Montserrat Road was blocked off for the duration.

The police say a large group of people at an unlicensed music event were safely dispersed.

Following the incident a Section 35 dispersal order was issued for the Putney area.
