Traditional Sri Lankan dance was performed on Upper Richmond Road for the launch of a new restaurant this Thursday (16 May).

Colombo Kitchen has taken over the premises formerly occupied by Holy Cow at number 240.

It is a new venture for head chef Sylvia Perera who opened the first Colombo Kitchen four years ago in Worcester Park.

She says that each dish on the menu uses recipes passed down through generations of her family using local, traditional methods and exotic, aromatic ingredients from Sri Lanka, combined with a modern presentation. Chef Sylvia grew up in Kurana, taking inspiration from her Aunty Nanda's home cooking and then trains at a culinary school in Australia.

You will be able to see the chef in action at a live hopper and kottu bar where your food is cooked in front of you.

Signature dishes include Karapincha corn ribs, Blackened fish ambul thiyal, Negombo black pork curry and there will be a range of lamprais (Sri Lankan/Dutch burgers) to try.
