The Amalthea Ensemble will be performing at All Saint’s Church on Friday 24 November at 7.30pm.

Alice Cheer on cello and Med Diamond on flute will be joined by clarinettist Will Hammond to perform a programme of works by composers such as Beethoven, Bach and Villa-Lobos plus a piece specially written for the ensemble by Georgia Denham.

The group was formed in 2022 by Meg Diamond and Alice Cheer with the aim of bringing chamber music in many forms to a variety of audiences. Its name and logo, the cornucopia, represent the plentiful offerings of the ensemble; in Greek mythology, Amalthea is a nymph in the form of a goat that cared for Zeus when he was being hidden from Cronos. Amalthea provided all necessities to Zeus, and it is her horn that the traditional cornucopia is based on.

Tickets can be purchased at the door by cash or card on a pay-as-you-feel basis with £5 as a suggested donation.

Refreshments, including alcoholic drinks, will be served before the performance and during the interval.

All Saint’s Church is by Putney Common (SW15 1HL).
