A hearing at the Old Bailey has set a date for the trial of a man and a woman accused of killing a toddler in Putney in 2019.

31-year-old Louise Lennon, who was the child’s mother, and 32-year-old Jake Drummond both denied the charges against them.

Another hearing is due to take place on 27 May with the trial, which is expected to last for 4-6 weeks set to begin on 6 February.

15-month-old Jacob Lennon died at his home in Putney in August 2019 after what the prosecution is alleging was a prolonged period of sadistic and systematic abuse which ended when he suffered a severe head injury. He was found collapsed by paramedics on the morning of 27 August 2019 and died later after being taken to hospital.

A post mortem revealed a series of historic injuries including to his genitals along with the head wound that caused his death.

Drummond, who remains in custody and is not the father of the child, is accused of murder and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Louise Lennon is charged with child cruelty and causing or allowing the death of a child. She has been released on conditional bail.

The pair gave separate addresses in the Wandsworth area while denying the charges against them.
