The police have said they are not currently treating the recent deaths of a number of men in the river in Putney as related.
There have been a number of unexplained deaths in the area in most recently of Mohamed Mussa and Paul Conte. There are some striking similarities between these two cases which has led to some family members to suggest a connection but a Met Police spokesperson said they were not currently following this as a line of enquiry.
27-year-old Mohamed Mussa was out with friends at Le Fez Night Club in Putney High Street in the early hours of Sunday 17 October. He was last seen alive outside Simmons Bar on CCTV. His body was found in the River Thames two days later. The post mortem gave the cause of death as drowning.
Two months earlier, 21-year-old Paul Conte from Putney was out at a party in Barnes. He was last seen on Ferry Road at around 12:40am on Sunday 15 August having texted his girlfriend that he was walking home. His body was also later found in the river.
Statistics show that around 17 men go missing each year after a night out, according to research by academics at the University of Portsmouth.
