It's Mega Skip Day Again This Saturday

There is another chance to get rid of large items of bulky waste this weekend with the return of Mega Skips to Wandsworth Borough this weekend.

From 9am to 12pm at five sites including Putney Park Lane and Malva Close in SW18 on Saturday 30 July you will be able to bring up to six items including some electrical equipment and household items like mattresses and sofas. A bag of rubbish counts as one item.

Usually there is a charge for bulky waste collections, but you can take up items along to the mega skip nearest to you for free.

The skips can only be used by Wandsworth Borough residents so you need to bring proof of address, for example your driving licence or a utility bill.

Cllr Judi Gasser, cabinet member for the environment, said, “We will hold monthly Mega Skip Days because we know residents find this service useful. It also helps reduce flytipping because there’s no excuse to just dump things on the street.

“So come along with your bulky waste, put it in the mega skip and we will recycle it. And if you know an area that you think would benefit from a mega skip, email me at Cllr.J.Gasser@wandsworth.gov.uk.”

As high demand is expected on the day, the skips will operate on a first come first served basis and a notification will be given on Twitter when they are full.
