Most stations in Zone 1 expected to be closed if strike proceeds
A one-day strike across the London Underground network is planned by the RMT on Monday 6 June.
Four thousand staff are set to walk out for the day in protest against 600 job losses and pension benefit cuts which they say are being planned by management.
The strike will happen immediately after the four day Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend which starts on Thursday 2 June.
General Secretary Mick Lynch said, "TfL is trying to bulldoze through 600 job losses on London Underground and our members are not prepared to accept that.
"Station staff play a crucial role in serving the travelling public and were heroes during the 7/7 terrorist attacks.
"Instead of seeking to cut jobs, TfL and Mayor Sadiq Khan need to put further pressure on the government to secure increased funding for the network so we can have a properly staffed modern 21st century tube."
Transport for London (TfL) said it would do "everything we can to minimise any disruption".
It is anticipated that most stations in Zone 1 will be closed on the day of the strike.
TfL has been forced by the government to implement a programme of savings which will reduce annual expense by £400 million which is being achieved in part by a reduction in headcount. TfL says no one would lose their job and the cuts would be achieved by not replacing staff who leave or retire.
It has also been required to carry out a review of the staff pension fund which Ministers believe is over-generous and up to £184.4 million a year could be saved by reform..
Andy Lord, TfL's Chief Operating Officer, said, "We are extremely disappointed that the RMT has announced unnecessary strike action on 6 June and share Londoners' frustrations that this, and the linked action short of a strike, has been designed to disrupt the Jubilee weekend.
"It is particularly surprising that the RMT has threatened to spoil this moment when the nation is coming together as nobody has or will lose their jobs as a result of the proposals we have set out and there have been no proposals on pension changes."
