Putney High School Celebrates GCSE Results


Over a quarter of students achieve 10 A*s (9/8) or more


Putney Putney High School GDST celebrates GCSE achievement across the board as over a quarter of students achieve 10 A*s (9/8) or more, with 82% at top A* A, 9-7 grade

One Putney student, Molly Reed, above, was named as the UK’s top performer in Classical Civilisation GCSE. The board wrote to notify the school saying, “Many congratulations to Molly … for this impressive achievement”. Molly has achieved a clean sweep of 10 x 9/8 or A* grades.

“I am shocked and really delighted”, said Molly “I love Classical Civilisation because of all the fascinating stories – I have really enjoyed learning about all the amazing cultures of long ago”. Molly is planning to study English, History and Drama at A Level.



Sophie Dulieu (above) achieved a clean sweep of 10 x A*9 grades having combined her GCSE studies with working at Wimbledon as a Ball Girl.

Headmistress, Suzie Longstaff said, “It is a great testament to the hard work of our students, and the enormous commitment of our teachers that Putney’s Year 11 have yet again, achieved brilliant GCSE results across the board, bucking national trends with amazing results in everything from Maths and Biology to English Literature, Classics and DT. More than a quarter of the year group have achieved the astonishing feat of 10 or more 9/8s or A*s and as many as 82% of grades have been at 9-7 or A*/A. We are all extremely proud of this spirited and talented group of students who completely embody the positive ethos of Putney with their “can-do” attitude and will undoubtedly go on to achieve in whatever they set their sights on.”
