Ole - Funky Spanish Tapas & Restaurant Combining Old & New

a great place for a quick Tapas at the bar after work or a relaxed meal with friends

Having grown out of their Fulham site Ole upped sticks in 2005 and headed south of the river to Putney. A loss for SW6'ers but a great addition to Putney's restaurant repertoire.

The front is unassuming and to be honest I had walked past numerous times before I realised it was there never again! Friends wanted SPanish and rather than return to our usual haunt I booked the table at Ole on the search for something new - although having read some reviews I was hesitant as they were very mixed (positive ones were found on this sites forum).

Once you step off the busy Upper Richmond Road your eyes are drawn to the funky split level restaurant which is light and bright whatever the weather as the back wall is nearly all glass. Ok it is not a view of the Thames, but the trees and fairy lights draw your eyes off the SW trains.

The restaurant was not full and so they were only using the upper level - but don't let the feeling of emptiness put you off - the advantage to the lower floor is you can take it for private parties.

The staff were very helpful in helping us choose enough food - it is all too easy to over order tapas, and they were also knowledgeable with the Iberian wine list - no they did not simply point to the more expensive!

Two of the party ordered the fillet of beef (£15.95) which they were ecstatic over and the third had the baked cod (£13.95) whilst I happily tucked into the rack of lamb (£13.25) -pink and tender and perfectly matched to the Caceres Reserve (£23.50).

We managed to avoid the desserts although the home made Creme Catalan was very tempting but the waistline threat overrode the tastebuds and the four girls settled for coffees, peppermint teas & the bill and promises to return for another girly night out!
