Health inspectors from Wandsworth Council have given the Hare and Tortoise restaurant in Putney a two star rating indicating ‘improvement necessary’ at the branch of the chaing.

The noddle and sushi bar at 296-298 Upper Richmond Road was rated poor for food hygiene and safety with the inspectors saying they had ‘some’ confidence in management after a visit this January.

Currently the restaurant is offering a delivery service through Deliveroo but under normal circumstances it is open seven days a week from noon to 11pm.

The chain of six restaurants was founded by a husband and wife team with the first branch launched in Bloomsbury in 1996.

The concept is for a casual dining restaurant serving dishes with an authentic flavour.

Hare and Tortoise has been contacted for comment.
