Porcupine Productions returns with works by Purcell and Gilbert & Sullivan

Porcupine Productions will present a double opera programme featuring two contrasting works: Henry Purcell’s 17th-century tragedy Dido and Aeneas and Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic operetta Trial by Jury.
The concert is taking place at St Mary’s Church, Putney, on Saturday 25 October at 7.30pm and Sunday 26 October at 2.00pm. The event
Musical direction is provided by Derek Carden. The cast includes Ruth Beckmann as Dido, Sarah Tyler as Aeneas, and Nina Kopperhed as Angelina in Trial by Jury. Clare Harbin, from the St Mary’s office, will appear as the Foreperson of the Jury.
Tickets are available via TicketSource or on the door, priced at £15.
The Putney Pantry, located within the church, will be open for refreshments before the performances and during the interval. More information is available at putneypantry.com.
The programme offers audiences an opportunity to experience two distinct operatic styles in a local setting: the classical drama of Purcell’s mythological tale and the satirical courtroom antics of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Victorian-era operetta.
