Sunday 1 October 2-3pm Silver Sunday

Silver Sunday is the national day of free, fun events and activities for older people: it gives older people a chance to get out of the house, keep active, learn new skills, make new friends.

Come to Putney Library on Sunday 1st October Between 2 and 3pm for tea, cake and possibly a singalong! No need to book! Just turn up!

Wednesday 18 October 6.30-7.30pm Meet the Author: Laura Thompson

Agatha Christie is a mystery and writing about her is a detection job in itself. Laura Thompson will talk about how she unravels truth from fiction. Laura has also written books on the Mitford Sisters and Lord Lucan, and a memoir of her grandmother, The Last Landlady. The talk will last around 40 minutes with an opportunity to ask questions afterwards.

Art Gallery in October: Sandra Akiiki

Ugandan-born Sandra has lived in Putney for 15 years. “I love to create artworks that resonate with people from all walks of life, infusing various colours, patterns, emotions, mediums and techniques. Black History Month is a time to shine a light on our shared British history and tell the whole story honestly and truthfully...To celebrate the here and now and the future possibilities.”

Wednesday 25 October 8-9pm Murder Mystery

Murder at the Music Festival - Another evening of murder, mayhem and mystery exclusive to Putney Library. Will this just be the day the music died? Or will one of the musicians join the choir invisible? Overworked organiser Carol Singer has booked an eclectic mix of acts from jazz to rap to country music. It’s up to the audience to work out: Who had a score to settle? And who will have to face the music?

Tickets £5, available in advance from the library. Wine and soft drinks provided

Monday 9 October 5.30pm

Film Club: Selma

Based on the Selma to Montgomery marches of 1965. As Martin Luther King Jr led hundreds of like-minded people along the highway they were met with violent conflict and brutal opposition, and had to fight their way through to claim what was rightfully theirs.
