Knitting Concerts Return To All Saint's Church

Poulenc, Ibert and Mozart to be performed by Putney Common

The Putney Knitting concerts are returning to All Saint’s Church with a programme of piano and wind music.

The concert on Sunday 14 November will feature Rachel Ingleton (oboe), Jon Carnac (clarinet), Alexia Cammish (horn) and Gavin McNaughton (bassoon).

The programme is as follows:

Poulenc - Trio for Oboe, Bassoon and Piano
Ibert - Cinq Pieces en Trio for Oboe, Clarinet and Bassoon
Mozart - Quintet for Piano and Wind

The return to the Church by Putney Common comes after a series of false starts in which planned concerts had to be cancelled due to changing coronavirus restrictions.

Organiser Robert Bridge says, “I am a very lucky boy to have persuaded four wind players who spend their time dotting between the main London orchestras and The Academy of St.Martin's in the Fields to come along and join forces in the Mozart Piano and Wind Quintet, a sublime work I have wanted to programme at the Knitting Concerts for many years. Before that you will hear a sparky and quixotic Trio by Poulenc and Ibert's jazz-café inspired Five Pieces.”

The concert starts at 6pm and as ever you are welcome to bring something quiet to do whilst you listen if you would like to. If you are a knitter, please don't bring metal needles.

For the time being there are no restrictions in place although the church is big enough for you to distance if you want to. Wine and soft drinks and you can make a donation at the end if you would like to. There is no facility for card payment so bring cash if you want to make a donation .

For the time being money will go towards the running costs of the event and to support the performers. Recently a donation has allowed those playing to be paid a modest fee which is much appreciated given how much musicians’ incomes have been affected over the last two years.
