Leaders at the 4th Streatham Sea Scouts are taking to their bikes to raise funds to pay rent on the boathouse in Putney that they use. The group has over one hundred young people, taking part in regular camps, rowing trips and expeditions.

Harry Joseph one of the valiant cyclists told PutneySW15: "We have recently found out that our subsidy with which we use to pay rent for our boathouse is due to be cut entirely, and so we are turning to the public to help us out. This is our 3rd charity bike ride and we are very pleased to announce that we will be raising funds our scout group!"

The boathouse is in constant use throughout the year, particularly in the Summer months when groups train for the regatta season and the annual Great River Race, a 22-mile rowing race along the Thames.

Harry said: "The vast number of hours spent on the water builds in our young people an impressive array of interpersonal skills. Our boathouse in Putney has been the 4th Streatham’s spiritual home for several decades, providing a venue for the shaping of thousands of young people’s lives, with over 100 young people currently on the books."
