St Christopher's Launches This Year's Christmas Appeal
Putney charity supports young people in and coming out of care
Tom didn't have to figure out the challenges of leaving care on his own

Putney-based children’s charity St Christopher’s has launched its annual Christmas appeal, to raise funds to try to ensure young people in care don’t face the future alone.
This year’s appeal highlights Tom’s story. When he left the charity’s care at 18, the thought of living alone was terrifying to him. Suddenly, the safety net he’d known for 4 years was gone, and he had no idea where to start. But with help, Tom didn’t have to figure it all out alone. From helping him learn how to manage his finances and pay bills, to offering emotional support during difficult days, St Christopher’s were there every step of the way - turning those moments of crisis into manageable challenges. Sometimes, all Tom needed was a phone call.
St Christopher’s has more than 150 years of experience caring for children and young people. It provides services and aims to create brighter futures for children and young people in care and leaving care, and those in fostering or on the edge of care.
