Putney Charity Launches Christmas Appeal

Making sure children in care and young care leavers can achieve their goals

As Christmas approaches, St Christopher's Fellowship have launched their Christmas fundraising appeal. They're raising £20,000 to help make sure children in care, and young care leavers can achieve their goals over Christmas and the year ahead.

St Christopher's Fellowship is a charity based in Putney that provides children's homes, supported housing, fostering services and outreach support to children in care, care leavers and young people who are homeless.

They encourage and support young people to develop their confidence and belief in who they are by creating opportunities for them to follow their interests and nurture their talents. They help young people get the equipment, travel, appropriate clothes and extra tuition to achieve their potential.

St Christopher's is asking for people's support this Christmas to work alongside young people to broaden their horizons, grow their confidence, and take steps to achieve the brighter futures they want for themselves. Support from donors could help young people to buy a travel card to visit someone close to them over Christmas, buy supplies and materials to start a college course, or go towards a group trip for all young people and carers from one of our homes to celebrate Christmas together.

Jonathan Whalley, Chief Executive of St Christopher's, said: “For many of our young people, spending Christmas with us gives them memories of times with people who care about them which they take with them as they go on to live their lives. Every donation to our Christmas Appeal will make a difference, and help us to make sure our young people feel safe, happy and loved - not just at Christmas, but every single day.”
