The Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability (RHN) in Putney is planning a range of fundraising events over the next few months.

The hospital has seen a dip in its income over the last couple of years as it hasn’t been able to hold as many in person event as before but now is making up for lost time.

During the whole of April it is holding the 210 Challenge. This is to mark that the RHN currently cares for around 210 patients living with a life changing brain injury. It is asking its supporters to take on a challenge relating to this number collecting from sponsors if possible.

Suggested activities are:

• 210 star jumps every day for the month
• Walk or run 210km throughout the month
• Bake and sell 210 cupcakes
• Walk 2.1 miles each day
• 210 sit-ups every day for the month
• Volunteer 2hr 10mins of your time every week

You don’t need to confine yourself to this list and are encouraged to be creative and keep the RHN updated on your challenge by tagging it on social media @rhnuk. For a fundraising guidebook and other help and tips, email events@rhn.org.uk. You can collect sponsors for your challenge to help make a difference to the 210 patients.

On 23 April there will be the RHN Easter Trail through Wimbledon Common from 10am to 1pm. You are invited to join a fun-filled 5k walk or run through Wimbledon Common. With chocolate eggs on route and colouring competitions, it's a lovely day out for the family, friends, and furry friends. It’s £5 to sign up and the RHN asks you to collect some sponsorship money. Just email events@rhn.org.uk with ‘Easter Trail sign me up’.

On the 29 May the RideLondon-Essex 100 takes place and you can do something amazing and cycle 100 miles to help make a difference. It’s a unique opportunity to ride 100 miles on traffic-free roads through the heart of London and neighbouring Essex. It will start and finish in the centre of the capital, with 100 miles of rolling roads through some of Essex’s most beautiful countryside and villages in between. It’s only £15 to sign up or two for £20 – click here and secure one of the limited spots now.

An evening of Shakespeare on film is taking place on 23 June from 7-9pm. From 1899 onwards and across every part of the world, Shakespeare has been a major feature of the film industry. In Hollywood and London, in Tokyo and Madagascar, his plays have been turned over and over again to be made into something fresh, timely and relevant, by the world's greatest film directors, actors and scriptwriters, whether using his own lines or translated, with fidelity or in distant adaptations. You are invited to the RHN for an illustrated talk from Professor Peter Holland with extracts from films both archival and modern, on Shakespeare’s role in the history of motion pictures. This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.

We've always done that and won't be changing, in fact we'd like to do more.

However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.

If neither of these amounts is suitable for you then contact info@neighbournet.com and we can set up an alternative. All payments are made through a secure web site.

One-off donations are also appreciated. Choose The Amount You Wish To Contribute.

For businesses we offer the chance to be a corporate sponsor of community content on the site. For £30 plus VAT per month you will be the designated sponsor of at least one article a month with your logo appearing if supplied. If there is a specific community group or initiative you'd like to support we can make sure your sponsorship is featured on related content for a one off payment of £50 plus VAT.
