A drawing of the proposed premises from planning documents
October 16, 2026
A new Pilates studio is set to open at 87 Putney High Street after securing planning permission for changes to its shop frontage.
Club Pilates, a franchise that has expanded steadily across the UK, will take over the former mobile phone store next to Metro Bank.
The unit comprises a 1,912 sq ft ground floor space with an additional 601 sq ft basement accessed via a trap door. It had been advertised at a rent of £95,000.
The planning application attracted just one public comment, which argued that the proposed shutters were not appropriate for the area. Planning officers disagreed, concluding that the design and colour would not clash with the surrounding High Street frontage and granting approval.
Club Pilates will follow the same format seen at its other branches: a modern, equipment-led studio offering structured Reformer-based classes ranging from slower mobility sessions to more demanding strength-focused work.

The unit on Putney High Street was vacant for an extended period
Its arrival adds another fitness operator to Putney High Street, which has seen a noticeable shift towards leisure uses — including The Gym Group’s opening further along the road.
