A new store selling Cannabidiol (CBD) products is set to open this month at 170 Putney High Street opposite the train station.

Origin'40 already has three stores across London in Soho, Chiswick and Notting Hill.

The shop willoffer a range of brand extracts, cosmetics, vapes and edibles with more than 150 product lines available for sale, including what it says is the only organically-grown product available in the UK.

The company says there will be an emphasis on providing education which will help curious consumers with Origin’40 store teams providing tailored CBD advice and support, sharing their experiences with anyone interested in, or already using, CBD products. Free consultations will be available every day of the week on a walk-in basis.

The store will also feature a ‘blends bar' with complimentary fresh juices on offer, and lounge where customers can sample various CBD-infused products.

CBD is a natural remedy, extracted from the cannabis plant and its use has gained momentum in recent years. There has been a significant amount of clinical research into CBD including studies related to anxiety, cognition, movement disorders, and pain, but as yet the evidence about its effectiveness remains inconclusive.

Research from the Centre for Medicinal Cannabis estimates that the UK CBD market reached £300 million this year and could grow to £1 billion by 2025 - a value larger than the markets for Vitamin C and Vitamin D combined.

"We know there’s a lot of confusion and misinformation in the CBD space, and so our mission from the start is to educate and build consumer confidence as a leading authority on CBD in Europe," said Simon Blunt, General Manager. "We’re now London’s most authoritative high street brand, helping customers unlock the power of CBD to enhance their wellness routine.”

Blunt says that the decision to open a store in Putney High Street is very deliberate, “Being local to the area I know first-hand that locally there is nowhere else people can simply come and find out more about this exciting, new wellness product. We really want this to be a ‘local’ store; we’re a small, conscientious brand who’d like to be there whenever someone has a question, wants to bring a friend, or just wants to chat and try something new. It’s also an incredible area, full of creative, vibrant communities. We like to think we have something for everyone, and we can’t wait to meet our new neighbours”.

The first week in-store will feature some introductory offers.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.

We’ve always done that and won’t be changing, in fact we’d like to do more.

However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.
