Putney Hill was closed this Friday afternoon (19 June)

after a police pursuit of a vehicle ended with a collision.

Police officers on the Upper Richmond Road indicated for a suspicious vehicle to stop. The driver of the car failed to do so and drove away chased by a police vehicle.

The pursuit ended when the driver was in collision with another car on Putney Hill near the junction with Lytton Grove. The police spokesman told this website that the driver of that car was not seriously injured.

The driver of the car that failed to stop fled the scene and was arrested shortly after on Chartfield Avenue on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving and theft of a motor vehicle. He remains in custody while enquiries continue.

Putney Hill was closed in both directions to traffic. Numerous police cars and a London Ambulance Service (LAS) vehicle were on the scene.
