Fleur Anderson, MP for Putney, has teamed up with local organisations including Spear, South Thames College, Regenerate, The Feel Good Bakery, Well Kneaded, Work Match, Roehampton BASE, and Wandsworth & Putney Exchange Job Centre Plus to host a Jobs and Skills Fair to with a range of good jobs and training opportunities in the area.

The Fair will have a local vacancies board with lots of opportunities, but it’s also aims to provide people with the skills they need to take their next steps in the world of work.

She said, “There are almost 2,000 more people in Putney, Roehampton and Southfields claiming Universal Credit for reasons of unemployment than there were last year. The pandemic has hit hard on local people and I want to do everything I can to help everyone get back on their feet.

“I have gone out and spoken to local businesses and I have found lots of fantastic opportunities in the area.

“Many businesses are now searching hard for staff at the moment, and I know we have the talent and skills locally to fill that gap. All I am trying to do is work with some brilliant local organisations to make the right introductions.”

“It isn’t just about listing local jobs, there will also be some really useful workshops for people to attend that will help them ‘Get work ready’. We’ll have jobs advisors who can steer people in the right direction, and there will be the opportunity to get advice on training and benefits.

“If you or someone you know is looking for a job or considering a change of career, please do come along and tell your friends. We have posters up across town and we’ve been in touch with local schools and colleges, but this event is for everyone.”
