A fire destroyed the roof of a detached house on Dealtry Road in Putney this Saturday (23 April).

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to the incident in the building which had been converted into flats. Half of two flats and half of the roof were damaged. There were no reports of any injuries.

Crews carried out salvage operations to recover items and minimise damage. One of the Brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders was used as an observational tower to check for any remaining hotspots.

The Brigade was called at 5:07pm and the fire was under control by 6.54pm. Fire crews from Wandsworth, Fulham, Edmonton, Richmond, Wimbledon and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
