A 27-year-old woman is due in court this Friday (22 July) charged with the murder of a man in Mortlake earlier this week.

Blaze Wallace of Richmond will appear in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court accused of stabbing 34-year-old Samuel Mayo to death. She was known to the victim.

He was attacked shortly before 10pm on Monday 18 July at Mortlake Green Park on Lower Richmond Road. Paramedics treated Mr Mayo at the scene before he was transferred to hospital but he died shortly afterwards.

The whole of the park was closed off as forensics officers collected evidence including near a children’s playground.

Superintendent Roger Arditti from the South West Command Unit said, “I understand local residents will be shocked when they hear about this incident but I want to reassure them that a team of specially trained and experienced detectives are already working to establish the full circumstances.

“While an arrest has been made and detectives are already speaking to witnesses, I would urge anyone who was in the area around the time of the murder and who saw anything they think could assist the investigation to please get in touch.”
