Police extend stop and search powers due to fears of further violence

A man in his twenties was stabbed in Putney this Monday (7 September).
The police were called by paramedics from London Ambulance Service after the victim was found at around 4.15pm on Gwendolen Avenue.
He was taken to hospital for treatment but has now been discharged without life-threatening injuries.
No arrests have been made at this stage and enquiries are continuing.
As a result of the incident police were authorised a Section 60 stop and search order across the borough of Wandsworth for the 24 hours following the stabbing. This gave the police extra powers to detain people up until 8.15am on Tuesday.
