Residents from Putney gathered on Saturday (12 October) for a community drop-in session hosted by Wandsworth Council Leader Simon Hogg. The event, part of a borough-wide initiative, provided an open forum for residents to raise concerns, ask questions, and discuss local priorities.

A key focus of the discussion was traffic congestion in Putney. The council acknowledged ongoing frustrations and outlined collaborative efforts with Transport for London (TfL) to improve traffic flow. Measures under consideration include enhancing the synchronisation of TfL-managed traffic lights to increase green time at key junctions and reviewing bus stop locations and driver changeover points to reduce delays

Simon Hogg affirmed the council’s commitment to transparent communication and noted that a detailed report on junction improvements will be presented at the Transport Committee in November.

In addition to transport, residents raised topics such as street cleanliness and local investment. Improvements to Putney Leisure Centre were highlighted as part of ongoing efforts to enhance community amenities.

Simon Hogg commented, “As a listening council, we greatly value the opportunity to engage directly with residents. These drop-in sessions are an important way for us to hear from our communities, understand their priorities and work together to create meaningful change in the local area.”

The event was also attended by local MP Fleur Anderson, representatives from the police, and council officers from housing, waste and recycling, and community safety teams.

Community drop-in events are scheduled monthly across the borough. Residents can find their local drop-in and are encouraged to participate.

For those unable to attend in person, questions and feedback can be submitted via email to hello@wandsworth.gov.uk.

The council also reaffirmed its “7 rings, 7 days” guarantee, pledging that calls to its dedicated number—0208 871 6000—will be answered by a staff member within seven rings.
