Choral Scholarships (Alto and Bass) are now available to both
undergraduate and postgraduate students for the 2019/20 academic year.

Previous choral scholars have combined this role with their studies at the Royal College of Music, King’s College London, Royal Holloway University of London, Goldsmiths (UoL) and the London School of Contemporary Music.

Music at All Saints’ is central to the mission and work of the church. The church has an excellent SATB choir which
includes four stipendiary choral scholars. The choir has some first-rate singers all of whom live locally and support the
parish. A particular quality of the choir at All Saints’ is that, as well as having excellent musical ability, it is also a friendly,
supportive and positive group of singers. The choir is led by the Director of Music, Christopher Woodward and accompanied by the Assistant Director of Music, Joshua Ridley.

All Saints’ is situated on the edge of Putney Common and is one of two churches which make up the Parish of Putney. It aims to be a place of spiritual, intellectual and emotional refreshment, and seeks to give people the chance to learn and grow in their faith. It is an inclusive church that welcomes everyone regardless of their gender, race or sexual orientation.

Choral scholars are required to sing at one Sunday service per week (during term time only). This will most often be a morning service (9:30 am rehearsal for a 10:30 am service). Once a month, this will take the form of evensong (5:00 pm rehearsal for a 6:00 pm service). In addition, choral scholars will need to attend one Thursday evening rehearsal per month and other major services across the year including: All Souls’ Day, Nine Lessons and Carols, Midnight Mass, Christmas Day, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. There are two choir concerts a year at which Choral Scholars are expected to sing.

Choral Scholars will receive an annual sum of £1,200, paid in monthly instalments, under review for January 2019. They will also have the opportunity of earning additional fees by singing at weddings, funerals and memorial services.

To apply, or for further information, email the Director of Music, Christopher Woodward at dom.allsaints@parishofputney.co.uk.
