Simon Gould

A Putney headteacher is preparing to take on the TCS London Marathon this Sunday (26 April) to raise funds for a local youth charity that has become a central part of his school community’s outreach work. Simon Gould, Head of Hurlingham Prep School, will be running in support of Regenerate, a Roehampton-based organisation that works with young people and families facing significant challenges.
Hurlingham Prep has partnered with Regenerate for the past 18 months, combining fundraising with hands-on volunteering from pupils, staff and families. Through that work, Gould says he has seen the charity’s impact up close — particularly the way its youth workers provide stability, trusted relationships and practical support for young people who may not have those foundations elsewhere.
This year, the school has set an ambitious target of £30,000, enough to fund a full-time youth worker and mentor. The role would allow Regenerate to expand its reach and offer consistent, long-term support to more young people in the community. Gould hopes his marathon effort will help move the school closer to that goal and demonstrate what can be achieved when a local community rallies behind a cause.
Although marathon training is demanding, Gould says it is nothing compared with the daily pressures some young people face. That contrast, he explains, is what motivates him to keep going — and why he believes every donation, however small, can make a meaningful difference. Contributions will help Regenerate continue offering opportunities, guidance and encouragement to young people who need it most.
Supporters can donate to Simon Gould’s fundraising effort via his JustGiving page.
