Police Box, Leicester Industrial Museum https://www.flickr.com/gp/m-j-i/51b8c6R81BBefore mobile phones and radios, police constables on the beat had to use a 'Police Box' These boxes contained a telephone, first aid box and a small desk for paper.Leicestershire Constabulary used this box from 1931 to 1951. This prototype was for use by constables on motorbikes or in cars and came from Ullesthorpe, near Lutterworth,In Leicester City the boxes were slightly different and came in two sizes, the larger one allowed space for a bicycle. The Police boxes in the city were slightly different to these used by the County Police.

Mr Ixer'Police Box, Leicester Industrial Museum'Undoubtedly fascinating but your very numerous photo-posts do tend to clog up the Forum topic list. With your well known tech-savviness would it not be possible to place all of your photos in a single thread ("Mr Ixer's photo album") such that readers can choose to view them if they want to ?
