Last month, he notoriously gave a 12-month conditional discharge to three women guilty of publicly displaying paraglider images supporting Hamas, a banned terrorist group. It was quickly pointed out afterwards that he had previously ‘liked’ a post on LinkedIn accusing Israel of terrorism in Gaza (something he says he did mistakenly). Understandably it was suggested that having done this he ought to have recused himself from the trial for apparent bias.

Sky News reported that the judge concerned was "satisfied there is a real possibility of an immediate custodial sentence," and in such cases bail is apparently much less likely to be granted. Right-wing activist Daniel Thomas was remanded in custody again today ahead of a trial next year over allegations he slashed a migrant boat in the English Channel with an emergency responder on board and refusing to divulge his phone’s PIN to the police. A provisional trial date was set for March 1, 2027 at today's hearing - in just over five month's time.To keep him banged up for at least another 6 months is ridiculous because he is not a danger to the general public.  It is a particularly stupid action considering that we keep getting told prisons are critically overcrowded, which has resulted in the early release initiative.  This scheme has backfired spectacularly as demonstrated by the Government’s recent cancellation of the proposed release of 2 of PC Harper’s killers. I have no idea if the judge at today’s hearing was Mooslim or just one of the Left wing judiciary making a point of punishing a Right wing activist.  Political point scoring is not just confined to our politicians.Danny Tommo’s case will have another hearing in November so hopefully he will be let out on bail then.🙏🏻

Sorry to disagree Sue but if he was left there for years utvwould be no loss to the country.Not sure how his 'crime' is alleged as it clearly shows him slashing the dinghy.If they could find a way of putting his boorish pal laxley in with him that would be a resuktThese thugs do not speak for the majority of those people , like me, who are against the uncontrolled entry of fighting age young men into tjis country.

Judicial bias does exist.  This is a report by the University of Manchester which focuses on anti-black bias rather than any other alleged forms of bias or discrimination.Here is the link (sorry Sue) https://documents.manchester.ac.uk/display.aspx?DocID=64125I've tried to find actual examples of political bias in the judiciary but can find only allegations, mostly coming from the right, including Reform. Perhaps someone could point me to an actual case of left wing judicial bias.

@AndyI am quite happy for you to disagree with me.😌Yes it’s weird how the word ‘alleged’ is always used even when an event has been witnessed or filmed in real time, but I suppose until a conviction has been attained through the judicial system, the caveat of ‘innocent until proven guilty’ has to be maintained. I kind of half agree with you about Tommy Robinson because of his connection with the BNP which was too far right.  However I do give him huge credit for his exposure of the Pakistani rape gangs when for decades the authorities and the police were covering it up for fear of being called racists. Tommo has four young children and in my opinion it is particularly spiteful to keep him on remand so he won’t be with them for Christmas.  But you know me- I’m just an old softy …😽

My point is that thugs cannot be allowed to succeed no matter how 'worthy'they may consider their cause.The boat he slashed was not empty as there was someone on it who had been involved in the clearance.On any case of rape the maximum sentence possible, within the legal framewprk,should be handed out.

It's not been published, but presumably the reason Danny Thicko was refused bail was that he was already on bail from previous court appearances in March and August, and he'd breached tho conditions of those bails. He really isn't the brightest spark, is he?
