Wandsworth Town Hall

Had to go to the old Town Hall today.  What a wonderful Art Deco building it is.  It is Grade II listed and opened in 1937.  
Are there ever guided tours?  I would pay to go on a tour around the building.

Andy, thanks for this reply as I didn’t know about the Book of Rememberance. The building is magnificent.  The staircase and entrance hall are beautiful. If the Council don’t think it is something they could do, maybe it could be opened to The 20th Century Society once a year.

What a good idea. I had the pleasure of working there for nearly 40 years and there are some beautiful areas.Particularly the marble staircase leading up to the council chamber and the chamber itself. Plus the wood panelled corridors aIf you go up the marble staircase the book of remembrance of civilian deaths during ww2 is particulatly poignant.They used to ( hope they still do) turn the page daily.
