"The BBC has been forced into an apology after its coverage of Holocaust Memorial Day omitted the word 'Jews'."https://www.msn.com/en-sg/news/other/bbc-apologises-over-its-holocaust-memorial-day-coverage-because-it-failed-to-use-the-word-jews/ar-AA1V7hIf?ocid=BingNewsSerp'The corporation appeared to be avoiding the term as it marked the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz on Tuesday, with at least four BBC News presenters opting to say six million 'people' died in the World War Two genocide.Videos starting circulating on social media showing TV packages dedicated to the day - which remembers Jews and others who suffered under Nazi persecution - starting off with the controversial choice of phrase. In one, anchor Martine Croxall begins by saying: 'Today marks Holocaust Memorial Day. A day for remembering the six million people who were murdered by the Nazi regime over 80 years ago.'BBC World News presenter Matthew Amroliwala and Breakfast host Jon Kay introduced bulletins on their shows with the same line. The word 'Jews' was also omitted from the BBC Radio 4 report on Holocaust Memorial Day.The phrasing was swiftly criticised by sections of the Jewish community, who described the decision as 'hurtful, disrespectful and wrong'.When asked by the Daily Mail about the move to replace 'Jews' with 'people' during key sections of their reporting, the BBC immediately apologised.A spokesperson said: 'In the news bulletins on Today and in the introduction to the story on BBC Breakfast there were references to Holocaust Memorial Day which were incorrectly worded, and for which we apologise. 'Both should have referred to "six million Jewish people" and we will be issuing a correction on our website.'Useless diversionary gesture.Like a newspaper retraction on page 47.The insult was made in the main radio and TV news bulletins so why not issue the apologies from the same source ?The fact is the BBC has a dubious attitude regarding antisemitism. Most of the hundreds who work in its news departments are either Palestinian sympathisers (remember it has an Arabic News Service but not a Hebrew one) or are too young and too thick to understand what is truly meant by genocide (ie the industrialised murder of 6,000,000 JEWS).Or as they are now seemingly to be known on the BBC as 'Jewish people'.Watch out for the use of the terms 'French people', 'United States of America people', 'Iranian people', Catholic people....
