Most Read Article in The Guardian Today

It’s the one about Brooklyn Beckham and his parents.  What?  I thought Guardian readers looked down on MailOnline readers like me who enjoy the celebrity gossip. Also it’s the article most read all the way through today.

Everyone likes a bit of goss, especially celebrity goss.  I might be one of the exceptions, yawn.

@DAIt’s the type of salacious/gossipy stuff that people like to read and I suspect the editors at the Guardian have finally figured that out.  You never know the paper’s readership might increase enough and the begging for donations could even stop!

"Genius to involve therapists in the story and make it seem more than mere gossip."That's the Guardian attempting, unsuccessfully naturally, to have their cake and eat it.Never did we get this Beckham-type behaviour with Sir Stanley Matthews, nor indeed with Bert Trautmann.

Ask the Guardian readers, they seem to be loving it. To give it a bit of gravitas, as Guardian readers wouldn’t want to be seen to be reading or enjoying this gossip, the article today is “Beckham Family Estrangement is neither rare nor unique say therapists”.  Genius to involve therapists in the story and make it seem more than mere gossip. Maybe they will bring in their own version of the MailOnline’s Sidebar of Shame?

Ivonne, I’ve read some of it, but it’s just going over and over the same stuff.  I haven’t read the Guardian article (s) but I read on Mumsnet how the story is the most read in that newspaper.  If you read all of it, you’d never find time to do anything else. I bet the Guardian readers are also reading the many Beckham articles on MailOnline where it has been the top story.

I've not read it but, unlike some papers, it's not behind a paywall. Perhaps it's a light relief after President Trump's random thoughts and tantrums?

Hello Martine,I am glad you enjoyed the coverage of the Beckham family.I really cannot understand why they had such a wide coverage. Anyway, I am one of the people who has not ready any articles on them today.....
