My niece is doing a term at Madrid uni. She and her friends were in Malaga and booked on that train that crashed. One girl though, was booked on the next train. They tried to get the ticket officer to transfer that ticket to their train, but he said he couldn't, but he could put all their tickets onto her later train. To stop her being on her own they decided to do that. They didn't know when they got on that later train what had happened, and were stuck on it for hours. Eventually able to get off, and a mother booked them into a hotel for the night, and organised a car into Madrid the next day. Just horrific, and they were so lucky. Angels were watching over them.
