Help

Has anybody got a simple answer, my other half added an anti virus, but now we have no connection. We have the small card with a number but it's not now connecting to the router. No Internet.

Hi merry, it all started when my other half was adding, or trying to add an anti virus. My land line works and it comes on, we have done something, so it's not connected. This is on the laptop. I prefer the laptop to my phone. For facebook and putney forum. But at the moment I can't get my emails on the computer

Just a thought, Barbara. If you are with Community Fibre, they may be doing engineering works locally that are causing the problem. I have heard from other people locally, that they have been experiencing some outages recently. Might be worth checking with them.

Michael, the computer comes on.  It won't let you go in on anything. Just says no connection. I will tell the other half when he comes in what you have said.

Can you see if the computer is still connected to the router's wi fi signal? If not, try reconnecting? Just guessing, I'm assuming it uses a wi fi connection not a cable.

Hi Ivonne and Gerry, the other half not sure if the anti virus even got installed. One was bought at Costco months ago. But it didn't seem to work, so he then thought he paid through PayPal but nothing taken from his account. So a bit stuck, we know we have Internet, but doesn't want to be friends with the computer.

Hi Barbara, here are three suggestions that AI has come up with. Hopefully, they are not too complicated to follow and fingers crossed they sort out the blockage. (By the way, I suspect wet wipes are not the cause of the problem!)1. Restart Everything: Reboot your PC and router to clear temporary glitches.2. Check Antivirus Firewall: Right-click the antivirus icon in the taskbar and temporarily disable its firewall or web protection to see if the internet works.3. Allow Your Browser: In the antivirus settings (often under Firewall or Application Control), make sure your web browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.) is explicitly allowed to access the network.

Thank you David, my otherhalf did that a few times yesterday. It doesn't let me get into facebook or even Putney forum Just keeps saying no connection. I just rang 150. They could see it didn't seem to be a problem their end.

This is probably of no use at all, but my only current Internet problem is solved by turning the power to the router off at the wall for at least ten seconds. I only discovered that by googling the problem.
