Mr Hawkes. Some people enjoy high performance cars for the quality of their engineering and the joy of driving them, perhaps that's something in my blood as my father was a motor mechanic? But such cars are really for the track not the public highway (I remember a director trying to draw a discussion on data protection to a close quickly so as not to get stuck in traffic on the way home from the City office underground car park on a Friday evening; fast cars can be difficult in slow moving traffic!), but I've had several enjoyable days at Brands Hatch and Snetterton in my younger days, although that's mainly been a Formula Ford or RS2000 on the circuit, or an old banger on skid pans - that's fun - except once with laps in a Massa and Aston around an airfield (only cones to hit there, no crash barriers; i wouldn't claim to be a good fast driver 🙂). I'm not sure all those City directors with posh cars would appreciate your comments on their status trophies which presumably are to emphasise their success to friends, family and neighbours? (Yeah, and sometimes the doors have to be widened to get their egos into the meeting rooms ... but I wouldn't accuse them of being drug dealers ...)However, let's be practical, these days, Zipcars are best; someone else does the maintenance, they're up-to-date lease cars, and residents parking is not my problem. I'd also stand by my own comments - that's why I often post links to justify them - and even when I'm drawing analogies or playing "devil's advocate" that's to move the arguments forward - not that there's a Devil! Similarly, there isn't really a Sabbath as not all religions agree on the day, and if one enjoys one's work, isn't every day a holiday? :-)Out of interest, in your IBM days, did you wear the uniform of a black suit and white shirt, or was it just the salesmen (not sure I came across any saleswomen back in my software house days)?

Mr Hawkes. I was reminded by a Facebook post that President Trump has apparently tarnished his own reputation with some of his comments such as: "I grab em by the pussy" and "I go into teenager’s dressing rooms to see them half dressed" and "if Ivanka wasn't my daughter I'd be dating her" - but obviouslya number of far right Christians feel that's fine and vote for him. However, I'm interested that you apparently support someone with this attitude to women given your concern about trans-women and which facilities they should use; still the Presdident claims to be a Christian now so I guess you consider him forgiven given your support of the Judeo-Christian culture; ss an atheist, it all seems hypocritical to me.Ukrain seems a mess as Trump doesn't seem to be clear whether he's supporting Putin or Zelensky, or whether he considers Russia or NATO his ally, and he seems to have lost interest now - or perhaps it's just me who's confused.Given his previous comments that he's concerned about all the loss of life by both sides in Ukraine I can't see he's going to be very keen on restarting the middle east conflict with a result in probably the killing of many more civilians and alienating his friends in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, etc - I mean, the Qataris might want their big, gold jet plane back! Also, having declared peace a while ago it's not going to help his cause for a Nobel prize ... (And if the West Bank settlers aren't supported by tose in Israel's government, why is nothing done to take action against them?)It's not me but Trump himself who's trying to turn it around back on the Democrats, presumably to obfuscate something somebody wants to hide - I suspect there's worried people on both sides of Congress as things crawl out of the woodwork (well, emails) - the cynic in me thinks it's down to who can buy silence to cover their corruption. It makes me wonder of Andrew of former Prince fame was just an arrogant fool out of his depth chasing the rich and become collateral damage in search of money and women - but then why pay $12m for silence? I wonder if the truth will ever be known?
