Beware this new scam on Winter Fuel Payments

We've received a clever-looking email claiming to be from the government and encouraging recipients to claim £200 or £300 in Winter Fuel Payments  All you have to do is provide name, address etc .... and your bank card details.As I said, it looks clever, except that the website address is the very dubious https://gov.uk-dwpaag.qpon/uk.

Thank you for this post, Richard.Website addresses are one give away; misspellings in the website address is another.The vast number of scams going around is truly infuriating!

My husband received the Winter Fuel Email Scam about a month ago.  Thankfully, we realised it was a scam, as we opened the online application form. My understanding is that the Winter Fuel Payment is given automatically and then taxed if you go over the personal allowance.

Unfortunately anything to do with energy savings is likely to be highly suspect. I received a claim by some dodgy outfit a while ago but the reality if far from what they claimed!
