Two interesting things happened recently concerning cycle hire. Santander announcef the renewal of its sponsorship of London’s cycle hire scheme until 2032.Unfortunately it's not London wide and doesn't even cover all of Inner London and definitely not all of SW15.I'm not sure how much money the sponsorhip represents but it confirms that TFL are going to have a couple of tweaks but essentially no real change for the next decade. No real expansion just the selective areas that are deemed worthy of the huge cost to install and maintain the infrastructure. The other news is Hackney council agrees £93m deal with Lime and Voi but bans Forest. That means if I'm correct £93m for the council and the hire companies have agreed to cap the fee at the same level or lower than a bus fair (for Hackney residents) "comparable to, or cheaper than, a bus fare” – currently £1.75 possibly for a 39min hire. This is the kind of scheme that the Mayor should done for the whole of London, not just central London and a few extra bits!
