Benefits need to be discussed with reference to the wider situation concerning housing and utilities costs not to mention employment rates, wages and tax.Apparently UK living standards are now below those of the poorest US State. They have not moved much this century which we are now a quarter of the way through.

@MBIt used to be but I think it might not be now. My position on it has always been the same. Allow the benefit for 2 children and if people want more they must provide for them themselves.

Oddly it is now so called Right of centre governments that are giving couples incentives to have a family.Hungary comes to mind but also Japan, South Korea, and Poland.Odd that they appear to be countries with low crime rates.
