Which Farage are we hearing from today?

The problem is that there are too many of them (one is too much). Today, for example, one Farage admits that he didn't actually pay for the house in Clacton that the other Farage, back in November, claimed to have bought - because his mistress paid for it, saving a handy £44,000, somewhat more than Angela Rayner saved in the transaction that cost her her job.And now there is yet another Farage; Sky News' Beth Rigby says that this one wants to deport women asylum seekers back to the Taliban in Afghanistan if he becomes prime minister, yet the other Farage said in August that he was not "discussing" women and children for return to the Taliban (https://news.sky.com/story/farage-confirms-he-wants-to-deport-women-back-to-taliban-in-afghanistan-13425996). Furthermore, in the same report, Serena Barker-Singh reports that in an interview today he's said three different things since that August statement, raising the awful possibility that there are even more than two Farages. Either that, or he's a lying toerag; neither possibility reflects well on this supposed would-be prime minister.

Mr Hawkes. I don't think I've added anything substantive to the original quote from the council spokesman in the original Basildon news article regarding the circumstances of the arrest. I guess the council lawyers were consulted about etiquette, harassment, etc before the police were called in.Yes, my patience was stretched probably making me a little tetchy, mainly because of the poor quality of the 5G signal available along the west coast rail line from Glasgow to London. Nigel Farage has been in a relationship with Laure Ferrari since 2017 although  apparently he first met her in 2007 He has been married twice before and it may be that he doesn't want to go down that path again, nor may she, who knows?  Another possibility; he didn't want to get married but she wanted the (alleged) security of it, so maybe they compromised.  Farage is a millionaire so perhaps he bought the house for her, so obviously it was registered in her name.  That would be tangible proof of his commitment and also give her financial security if they split up.  Seems a sensible solution to me.  I haven't bothered to read the whole thread because it was started by a poster clearly afflicted with FDS, so I apologise if a similar post has already been made.

Mr Hawkes. It's obvious to anyone but you that I used the term "harass" because that was used in the original council statement. I believe emotive or not it could also describe a criminal offence. But the criminal process and courts are the best judge if that.Another reason for council staff not carrying out policy is if those policies contrave laws. Convenient of you to omit that one; you're obviously getting careless or was that deliverate bias. 'You use harass, a very emotive verb when in fact the real issue is whether or not civil servants should feel obliged to implement the policies of elected politicians who they are there to serve.I think they should, and if they feel they are unable to do so be it for religious or political reasons, they should resign and live off their generous pensions.Or get a job in the private sector with equivalent benefits of security, holiday allowance and pension rights.

Ed, yes, agree that harassment has happened for sexual purposes before and should not have happened, and those involved should be punished. Not sure one should discuss this in detail while it's still under police investigation but it seems to be more around the political interference in council work, entering areas councillors aren't allowed in. But we'll have to wait for the outcome of the police investigation. Perhaps it's all just a "misunderstanding" as to how council businessworks :-)

No, I know there's been issues with all parties, but I'm not aware of anyone being arrested on government premises for persistent harassment of people trying to do their jobs. I think the sexual harassment cases you mention have been bars outside of the nsin working environment, which I'd agree is also unacceptable.

My understanding is at one time they mainly came by lorry - as evidenced by at least one case in the UK and others in Europe of migrants being suffocated, and we could remove many of those who were successful back to Europe. Again, my understanding is pre Brexit UK officials had access to EU databases regarding migrants so it was possible to gain information previously recorded in the EU about those picked up.Those databases aren't available to third party countries like the UK.

It also conveniently absolves Labour's past and present policy of destroying countries and creating more refugees. Also Frage did not set the terms for the Brexit referendum and was not in power when other countries had referendums on  changing the EU. Poor democracy leads to poor outcomes.

A large part of the country have lower 'c' conservative values and are not currently being represented. I think the lack of proper representation is the largest driving force feeding Reform's support. I read an interesting article the other day on the Your Party creation. I'm not sure they are going to bring anything to the table apart from opposition to the UK's foreign policy on Israel.

I think the biggest risk comes from the state as we have seen in Canada. Almost everything that has been sold has been and current pensions, social and health care come out of today's taxation. We are not Norway.  On the one hand the state will have the power to aid suicide and on the other it has costs that it looks increasing unlikely it can pay. We need military, intelligence services, special forces and armed police. Ideally we would have proper transparency to protect them and us as citizens. Recent law changes means both are weaken and the state strengthened. It can take years for the truth and evidence to come out. We seen recently a state that our country supports sacrificing its citizens we must be cautious and hold the state to account.

What they vote for or against is just as important as voting.What they ask when in Parliament when there is just as important as attending.Fleur was a member of the government and in the UK we have collective government, I therefore do not find her popular - perhaps you do so we will have to differ.The true test will come at election time assuming that they manage to count the votes.

I think you are missing the point I am trying to make, which has nothing to do with whether one agrees with certain policies or not.My point is that Farage receives a salary as a constituency MP and never holds surgeries to meet with local people to discuss local matters, and barely attends Parliament. If it was any other job he would be dismissed for incompetence and absence.Fleur is the polar opposite; she holds surgeries, meets with local people and groups, attends Parliament and votes.That is my only point. Nothing to do with whether you agree with the policies that he or she has etc. Solely on attendance and performance she fulfils her duties, he does not.

Ok. I agree we could do a lot better than Fleur, in my personal opinion. But she spends a lot of time here, and is a hard working constituency representative. I might not agree with her on certain things, and I might find her approach quite top-down and not bottom-up, which irritates me about her. I think she will always do what the Party wants, and then ‘manage’ her constituency to avoid conflict etc.Anyway, she is nothing like Farage who uses Clacton as a springboard for his own brand; they NEVER see him. He has done nothing at all for them. It was interesting hearing interviews with his constituents recently when he was in Washington  claiming the UK was like North Korea and Washington should consider imposing further tariffs on us! Many people in Clacton who voted him won’t do so again. Good on them.

I don't about Reform's manifesto being very impressive; beauty is in the eye of the beholder.What I do know is that there is a huge credibility issue about anything that Farage or Dick Tice say; I just hope they are held to proper scrutiny on what they propose.Recently Farage said he would stop the boats in two weeks after being elected to number 10. What he admitted, shortly after, is that he would stop the boats two weeks after legislation was prepared, proposed, debated upon, voted on and entered on the statute books.Look, he has never been held to account for his role in Brexit and the disastrous impact it has had on this country. About time that changed; whether it is done aggressively or otherwise, doesn't really bother me, just that it is done effectively.The guy is a complete grifter and charlatan.What completely baffles me is why would anyone in their right mind want him as their constituency representative to Parliament? When we talk about ordinary people we should remind ourselves that during, before and after the pandemic the UK probably had one the most elite educated governments in the Western world but had the worst outcomes.During the last election also, leaving aside immigration/EU Reform's manifesto was very impressive. What was not impressive were the other parties manifestos. Not one had a decent policy on the high street. Labour's despite being paid by the tax payers to come up with policies was very disappointing.I do not think running a negative campaign against Reform will work.

I'm. Not sure, Mr Hawkes. I'm speculating about when a possible future Reform government might be in power. We've no idea who would be attorney general then. Remember, Northern Ireland voted to remain in the EU, so a majority perhaps wouldn't like Farage as PM; and they've also seen Ireland prospered in the EU. There is provision in the GFA for such a referendum but I can't remember them.Predicting the future is always unwise. Who knows, if voting splits Labour supporters and Conservative supporters with other parties one could end up with some weired coalition to make sure Farage doesn't become PM; a bit like Le Pen in France ...

Advance UK (formerly known as the Integrity Party) was set up by Ben Habib, who was not happy with Farage.Perhaps wrongly I always thought Reform was mainly a English nationalist party and Advance UK more Unionist/Conservative. However Reform have made some progress in Wales & Scotland.I not sure the reasons why Your Party took so long to set up, besides Corbyn having to be dragged away from the hope of joining Labour.The Greens obsession with fringe identity politic issues has meant that they have made no real gains in years.With no real effective opposition it does look like Reform are next in line for government. The path is being cleared it seems!

Del Boy is exactly what Farage would love people to believe he is; a man of the people, ducking and diving and pretending he is more successful then he is.The reality could not be further from the truth; Farage comes from an extremely privileged background, mixes with the super-wealthy and manipulates the masses in order to protect the elite.In other words, an utter scumbag!

Sometimes he is more consistent. Right now he wants to renegotiate the Good Friday Agreement in order to withdraw from the European Convention on Human Rights. Given the ECHR is incorporated into Northern Ireland Law this would be a huge retrograde step back to the time of The Troubles.On the same hand, a few years ago he said 'Up the 'RA'. (IRA) which would have a similar effect.
