I think you are referring to fixed short term tenancy agreements that have either come to an end or have a break clause in them. Very useful for both parties that want some flexibility.What they are not a substitute for is long term housing where people require consistency especially when they have children.The government trying to polish something beyond it's purpose is not a good idea.There has also been reports of the government outbidding local market rates to place asylum seekers in the private sector. Also not a good idea.

I don't think Section 21 No Fault Evictions were dealt with by the previous Govt because too many MPs of all parties are landlords.

Yes Philippa, but are any of those you mention the Minister for Homelessness.  It’s not a good look for the Minister of Homelessness to be throwing out tenants and hiking up rent.

Extract from Sky News below.I looks like landlords just need to put their property on the market to get rid of the tenants.It's a private asset so it seems reasonable that the owner may want to get rid of that asset.Rent controls sound like a much better solution.The problem is a lot of MP's are landlords and flipping properties at the taxpayers expense.
