Looking at web page below asylum seekers receive the same concessions ie,e free as those on certain benefits. The problem I struggle with is the UK benefit system is means tested. However the cost of crossing the channel is reported to be around £6,000. That is just the crossing. So either these are wealthy individuals with £6,000 cash or they are taking on the debt which probably will have extortionate amounts of interest.Considering they can not work legally until they are granted residency someone please explain how such debts are serviced?"Universal Credit and other means tested benefitsIf you are receiving Universal Credit, or other means tested benefits, we would like to offer you a free 6-month membership that includes free access to swimming and gym facilities during off-peak hours and weekends.Adults have the option to upgrade to a peak membership for £21.50 per month. T&C's apply. To maintain your membership, eligibility proof must be provided every 6 months. You'll need to submit the most recent documents showing you received Universal Credit within the last 28 days.https://www.placesleisure.org/free-wandsworth-premium-membership-new/#asylumseekers
