Police Stations

The last of the Police Stations in the area to be shut. So how safe are we now.

https://www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/london-disappearing-police-stations-36-how-many-sadiq-khan-boris-johnson-b1165039.htmlI remember searching through a list of Govt buildings that were being sold off by the Govt some years ago when researching when a particular building had been in Council use.  There were masses of them.The same thing has happened to magistrates courts as well.When visiting a police station to report a crime we had to wait a long time and became intrigued by the huge number of people who seemed to have to just present themselves there.Perhaps you can answer why when we are asked so often to report online.  I did try to report something else online a while back and just gave up.  I think one of the TV programmes might be a better bet for some things!

A few bob?  It was under Boris Johnson that so many Govt buildings weren't just closed but were sold off.

Closing police stations saved a few bob in the short term and probably in the long term too now we have got rid of neighborhood policing.One wonders how that saving has been offset by more crime, increased insurance, higher priced goods, not to mention the environment. Very hard to have a green environment which relies on shared resources when everything gets nicked or vandalized.I guess the plan all along was to have a more distant centralized police force probably built on the former East German Stasi model.

Oh how great, I have an emergency, I run in the Police station somebody has pinched my phone or bag. Don't worry just talk to the shutter, it will make you an appointment to talk to somebody 3 months later.

It's not shutting. They are just closing the front desk to walk in reports. If you want to report a crime and don't want to do it online, then you can ring them up and make an appointment to talk to a police officer.
