Richard, sorry to correct you, but Devonshire Street isn’t Fitzrovia, it’s what I think of as Marylebone, as it’s the other side of Portland Place, round the back of John Lewis. However, its another of those pubs that is full of character and that we take for granted on our streets.
A fairly well known Fitzrovia pub is The Lore of the Land, in Conway Street, which is owned by Guy Richie. It has suffered 2 bad fires, and I’m not sure how it’s still standing, however it’s full of people when I’ve walked by and people out drinking on the street too.
I hadn’t walked past the Sanderson building for some time, and it makes me happy to see it was turned into a hotel. Someone told me that the Telecom Tower is going to be a hotel too, which should be great for Fitzrovia.
