Sensitive government documents discarded on Roehampton Lane
I am just about to finish Robert Harris's novel Precipice which I would highly recommend. There is an incident in the book in which the Prime Minister HH Asquith throws out some sensitive government papers from the window of a car driving along Roehampton Lane. In the book they are collected by a retired maths professor living on Medfield Street by Putney Heath.A quick search on the internet confirmed that the first part of the incident actually happened but the other details are in academic papers which I couldn't access. Does anybody know more about this story?
